LOVE YOUR HOME WITH A DECLUTTER PROJECT!

Writer: Tanner ClarkTanner Clark

February doesn’t have to be all about couples, shoveling snow, or waiting for spring! This month, why not dedicate some time to loving the space you are currently in with a fun and engaging organizing project that the whole household can participate in? Here are a few ideas:

15-Minute Declutter Challenge:

If you didn’t participate in our 30-Day Declutter Challenge last month, you can jump over to our social media pages and pick a few areas of your home to focus on. Make it a game with whoever you live with and see who can declutter the most items in 15 minutes. A few great places to tackle are clothes, the kitchen, winter gear, or sports equipment.

Create a Memorabilia Box:

Spend some time with your child, spouse, parent, or friend collecting items around the house that are keepsakes and sharing them with each other. Have your children seen your elementary school pictures? Does your spouse know about the concert stubs you collected? Have you sat down with an aging family member to share family recipes or old photos? Once you have shared everything, make sure to store items you want to keep in a way that preserves them and honors your memories.

Design a Love Letter Box:

Find a box that you can use for “love letters” and encourage family members to write and share notes of appreciation for each other. If you have kids, you can turn this into a craft project and let them decorate the box. If you live alone, pick a friend or family member and write a “love letter” to them about how much they mean to you. You will never regret telling a special person how much they mean to you.

Craft a Self-Care Project:

Identify your self-care needs and consider the areas that might be lacking. What activities calm your mind? Meditation, reading, or journaling? What activities nourish your body? Exercise, preparing healthy meals, booking a massage? What activities connect you to your values and purpose? Spending time in nature, volunteering, having coffee with a friend? Then organize space in your home to foster the area of self-care that you need most. This could be decluttering a corner of your bedroom for meditation or yoga. It could be decluttering and organizing your kitchen to encourage healthy food choices. Or look at your calendar/planner and organize your month to make room for social plans and reconnecting with friends. Even 15-20 minutes of daily self-care can make a significant difference.

February is a great time to focus on creating a more loving and organized home environment. By incorporating these fun and engaging organizing projects into your routine, you can not only declutter your space but also strengthen your relationships and improve your overall well-being.
