5 STEPS TO AN ORGANIZED KITCHEN

As the holiday season approaches, your kitchen is about to become the heart of your home. A well-organized kitchen can make all the difference as we enter into the season of cooking, baking, and entertaining. Let’s transform your kitchen in just five easy steps!

1. Declutter with Intention

Start by removing any items you no longer need or use. This includes expired food, broken appliances, and unused gadgets. Don’t be afraid to let go of items that no longer serve you and donate things in good condition. Consider these questions: Do I actually use this? Is there another item in my kitchen that can do the same task? Do I own duplicates of this item? By asking yourself these questions, you can make more intentional decisions about what to keep and what to let go of.

2. Deep Clean

Once you’ve decluttered, give your kitchen a thorough cleaning. Wipe down countertops, clean appliances and dust any open shelving. Pay special attention to often-neglected areas like the oven, the sides of your trash and recycling bins, and inside cabinets. This is also a great time to take stock of cleaning supplies because we all have that messy family member who gets cranberry sauce on the rug. If cleaning is a daunting task, consider hiring a professional.

3. Organize Your Pantry

Our biggest tip when helping our clients organize their kitchen is to group similar items together. Label things when applicable to easily identify what you have on hand. An organized food storage area prevents overbuying and reduces food waste. It also makes meal

planning so much easier.

4. Embrace Zones

This concept is a game-changer! If you enjoy baking, for example, don’t store your supplies in a way that causes you to go on a scavenger hunt for your stand mixer. By creating zones for different kitchen tasks, you can reduce the time it takes to gather what you need AND put things away.

5. Create a Functional Workspace

Unless you designed your own kitchen you are likely working with what someone else thought was a good idea. Take some time to think about what doesn’t work for you. Do you have adequate counter space for rolling out cookies? Does the lighting in your kitchen need an upgrade? A well planned workspace can make cooking more efficient and enjoyable.

By following these steps, you can create a space that inspires you to cook, bake and entertain with ease. If you find yourself overwhelmed or short on time, we’re here to help. Before the holidays are in full swing, send us an email, text, or give us a call today!
